I’ve heard people try to compare homosexuality with bestiality. I’ve also heard
people try to compare homosexuality with cross species sex. These two arguments are by far the most ridiculous examples of homophobia I’ve ever encountered.
“A man having sex with a man is like a cat having sex with a dog. There’s a reason dogs and cats don’t mate together; it’s all unnatural.”
Really? The two aren’t comparable when you actually break this analogy down. Cats and dogs are from two entirely different species categories. Cats are Felis catus and dogs are Canis lupus familiaris. They don’t mate together because they are of different species. All genders of human are in the species Homo sapiens. Homosexuality is natural, in that sexual acts are being kept in the species.
Fun Fact: Over 15,00+ animal species practice homosexual behaviors. The most well-known animal that practices homosexuality is the dwarf chimpanzee; one of humanity’s closes relatives. The entire species is bisexual. Lions are also homosexual. Male lions often band together with their brothers to lead the pride. To ensure loyalty, they strengthen the bonds by often having sex with each other (News-Medical.net).
“You let the queers marry each other and pretty soon people are going to be marrying their dogs.”
Well, that escalated quickly. Here’s the problem with this comparison: Marriage requires a very important item; a contract. Marriage is a contract which two (or more) people must give written consent to bind the union. Do animals write in any of our languages? No. Can they sign their names? No. Can people in love give written consent to bind themselves with a marriage union? Yes. Should their gender matter? No.
Alright homophobes, I know you must have a better and more logical reason behind your opposition? Wait, no you don’t.
